Fundraising, payment processing and prize promotions are regulated, and the rules differ by state and country. Text in [SQUARE BRACKETS] is a fact that has not been filled in. Have counsel review and complete this document before accepting real donations.
This policy explains what happens when you donate through Unlock for Good, when a donation counts, and what it does and does not entitle you to.
1.What your donation does
Your donation is credited to the campaign you chose and unlocks that campaign's content for you as soon as the payment is confirmed. The minimum amount is set by the campaign and is the price of unlocking; you may give more, and giving more unlocks exactly the same content.
2.When a donation counts
A donation is only counted toward a campaign's total, and only unlocks content, after our payment processor confirms the payment through a verified notification sent directly to our servers. A completed checkout screen in your browser is never treated as payment. If you return from checkout before confirmation arrives, the page will wait for it. If a payment is later reversed, the donation and anything it granted — including a prize promotion entry — are reversed with it.
3.Who receives the money
Funds are collected by our payment processor and belong to the campaign organizer, not to Unlock for Good. We are not a charity, a fiduciary or an escrow agent, and we do not hold donations on your behalf. We do not verify an organizer's claims or supervise how funds are spent. Please satisfy yourself about a campaign before you give to it.
4.Tax deductibility
Most personal fundraisers are not tax deductible. A donation is only deductible if the recipient is a qualifying tax-exempt organization and that organization issues you a receipt — and only that organization can issue one. Unlock for Good does not issue tax receipts. If a campaign claims deductibility, that claim is the organizer's and you should confirm the organization's status before relying on it.
5.Refunds
Donations are generally non-refundable, because they immediately unlock content and may create a prize promotion entry. If you believe a donation was made in error, was unauthorized, or the campaign was fraudulent, contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL] within [REFUND WINDOW]. We will review it and, where appropriate and where funds have not been disbursed, may reverse it. 6.Chargebacks
Disputing a charge with your bank reverses the donation. When that happens the associated unlock and any prize promotion entry are withdrawn, and the campaign total is reduced. If you have a problem with a donation, contacting us first is usually faster than a chargeback.
7.Fees
Payment processing fees are charged by our payment processor and deducted from the amount received by the campaign. Any platform fee will be disclosed at checkout before you pay. [PLATFORM FEE — state the fee, or state plainly that there is none.]
8.Prize promotion entries
Where a campaign runs a prize promotion, donating may grant one entry, subject to that campaign's Official Rules. No donation is necessary to enter or win, and the amount you give never affects your chance of winning. See the Official Rules.
9.Recurring payments
Donations through Unlock for Good are one-time. We do not set up recurring charges and we do not store your card details.
